Accident Records

Record accidents and first-aid administered to children

The Tapestry Accident section gives you a paper free alternative to a traditional accident book.

It allows you to record when and how an accident occurred, detail the first aid that was administered and by which staff member, fill in any additional information you feel is relevant, and communicate with family members about it afterwards.

You can collect the signature of a child’s parent or carer to show an accident has been discussed with them.

That can be done on a tablet, phone, or computer (although only on the browser for now), or you can just click to say that they’ve signed a hardcopy.

You can also monitor the accidents that have occurred in your setting. You might find this particularly useful if you’re trying to identify patterns or are reviewing your health and safety policies.

Within the Accidents Tracking section you’ll be able to choose a date range and filter for specific children or groups of children. You will be shown how many accidents fitting those filters have been recorded and the details of each of them.

Tracking screen showing there has been 7 recorded accidents in the period 1st Oct to 24th Feb. One is for the child Aakav and one for the child Anna.

A PDF version of that overview page is easy to download. You can also use the full ‘Export Accident Forms’ functionality if you’d like an individual PDF for each child’s accidents.

Whilst the accident log was originally only available as part of the Care Diary, we understand that some of you might not need to record meals, toileting, sleep, milk feeds or general notes. With that in mind, we have made the accident log a standalone feature as well, meaning it will show up in the full care diary, but can be enabled by itself instead if you prefer.

If you already have a Tapestry account you can turn the Accidents feature on from within your Control Panel. If not, you can see it for yourself by taking out a no obligation free trial.
